stone sculpture

I found links to Thea Sunshine Alvin's stone sculptures on Studio G. I really enjoy looking at well-designed outdoor spaces for design inspiration.

I love the lightness and airiness of these arches even thought they're made with stone. There's just something so happy about them.

Gorgeous!

minimalism

There's a great post on Antrepo4 about minimalism in packaging design. They took some major name brands and re-worked them in 2 steps towards a very minimal look.

In those examples I prefer the right. I'm definitely a less-is-more designer.

In the Lindt and Corn Flakes examples I prefer the middle. The right seems a smidge too far towards minimalism.

What's your take? Do you lean toward the left, the middle or the right?

happy day

I thought for sure I would be too busy with a new baby to celebrate Valentine's Day this year. Alas, it appears my second child is attempting to teach me patience.

The flowers are for my daughter - the brighter the better.

The chocolate cookies are for my husband. OK, and they're for me and our unborn baby who, it turns out, seems to have quite a sweet tooth already.

Happy Valentine's Day!

color inspiration

I had some credits at iStockphoto that were due to expire so I browsed around looking for some color inspiration. I found myself drawn to a lot of architecture and interior shots.

Such great color!

valentine's day

Yes, Valentine's Day is just a week away! If you're feeling crafty and don't want to go with traditional cards, flowers or chocolates... try one of these great do-it-yourself projects I found.

Crayon Stained Glass Card - Martha Stewart. Gorgeous! And you get to use up a few broken crayons.

Heart Cookies - Baby Jives. These are a nice alternative if you're looking for a sweet gift without all the sugar.

Quilled Cards - Martha Stewart. I'm not sure I have the patience for this one but I love how the examples look.

I look forward to one day having enough free time to do projects like these.

big changes

So I'm due to have my second child any day now. The due date is Feb 16 but I'm ready any time. As ready as I can be of course! I have things scheduled to post while I'm too tired to think straight and after that my posts may be a bit baby-centric. Hopefully within a few months things will begin to return to "normal."

I've also been blogging for just over a year now! I'm happy to have reached that milestone and still feel excited about finding design inspiration and sharing it with the world.

Thanks for reading!

zoo plates

I love finding beautifully designed everyday items for kids. These zoo plates and bowls from Skip Hop are adorable! I love the simplicity of the illustrations and the colors.

So much fun!
