I found this artist, Jennifer Maher, who creates gorgeous custom portraits of favorite toys and loveys.
This is Freckles, my daughter Nadia's most favorite companion. We have been through a lot together and I thought this would be a great way to honor him. I have grand plans to decorate her room with more toy portraits over the years. How cool would it be to look back at your childhood through gorgeous paintings of old friends?
See more of Jennifer's work here.
Happy Friday!
This blog is a place for me to share beautiful, well-designed things. By things I mean anything that catches my eye within a wide range of interests - art and architecture, fashion and jewelry, typography, useful household items, interior design, landscape design, photography... you get the idea.

judging a book
I often choose books solely on the cover. A recent selection was Chris Cleave's Little Bee. I wasn't sure the story could live up to the cover - I mean really, how could it? But it did. I was blown away.
Sometimes it pays to judge a book by the cover. This was a win-win for sure.

awesome crayon art
Check out these incredible crayon sculptures. The artist is Pete Goldlust. I am so impressed, I can't even tell you. They look like something you'd find in a dream about a funky alien playground.

camera upgrade
OK folks. I'm upgrading to a DSLR. It's time. It's also going to be considered a business expense. I have to take photos for my blog, don't I?!
I expect to show off some amazing shots. Like this one from Nikon's D5000 site:
I haven't bought it yet and I imagine it will be some time before I learn how to use it well, so be patient. But do expect to see glorious photography in the future.
